Type of a scam Government Grant
I’ve had missed calls from a few numbers in Washington lately. I had one who attempted to tell me that I had a pending IRS law suit and another this morning from the same call center telling me that I was entitled to a $9000 grant because I’m such a fiscally responsible student and citizen…they had all of my contact info so I typed down word for word what they offered.
Caller identified herself as: STACY and had an Indian accent.
All I have to do is return a call by the end of the business day, and indicate how I want the money (via my personal checking account, money gram, or a prepaid Visa card). They wanted to know what my job was, confirm address, which wasn’t correct, whether or not I was single, what my job was, and so forth.
Then they wanted to know how I planned to spend the money and disappointed that I planned to buy more books. All I need to do is call back to another number with my case number (*** ** ***) by the end of business day. Of course, the only part of the number who called was missing the last number in my missed calls menu: 202-890-903 and the callback number was 206-946-8173 and when I typed it into a search engine there were tons of alerts about the scams and multiple people who indicated that they were also told elements of the same story I had.
Today, she told me I was entitled to a grant from Feds-via Feds
1500 students who pay taxes on time
No criminal history and fiscally responsible.
