Tasking Out

I just did an interview with someone from this company and came across this thread. I started doing more research after I found it a bit fishy. I started the paperwork process and only uploaded my passport and then opted out. Any advise on what to do? I’m scared they could do something with my passport.

I was contacted by this “company” to interview to be a Financial Asst after they found my resume on Indeed.com. I had a phone interview with someone who could not pronounce the English version of her name (which led me to think she was calling from a different country altogether), and was then sent a request for License or Passport info as well as a current bill. I know these are great items for stealing soemone’s identity, so I responded with a request for the company’s Policies & Procedure manual as well as a detailed description of the job title. (Things a legit company would have and willingly provide with an offer of employment)
There was no response to my email, but two days later I received a call from someone who was clearly American who walked me through the same details of the job. Once I asked if there were any upfront costs for me, he hung up. When I called back the number he used, there was a generic, automated voice mail system. It stated neither his name nor the name of the company.
I also went to the taskingout.us website again, and there is no such listing for the position he mentioned and a completely different voice mail system when you call the real company. THIS POSITION IS A SCAM – please do not send any details or documents that they request! They could end up opening a bank account in your name!

I saw this a little too late, but still so thankful I found this when I did and confirmed my suspicions! Thank you.

Hello, did you do this through Taskingout.us? Because I have just done a phone interview and they sent an email asking for my information too and I did a phone interview just now. It sounded a little scammy to me and I’m not sure what to do

did you deposit it yet?

Type of a scam Employment

Hello, I applied to a job posting on Indeed for a Financial Assistant. If I remember correctly I was called a day after I had applied and did a phone interview. After I was sent a email with a link to do paperwork for their HR, I kept thinking everything was normal since I had done it before with a previous employer. Things started clicking after I met “the team” i was told my job was to convert money into digital US dollars. Then I was asked what bank I use and to fill out a form on google sheets about my bank info. I of course told them banks I don’t use and that I wasn’t comfortable giving my info, and they suggested I open up a business account. I was instructed to go a branch and open one there since online would take to long to activate. I was also told to say that it was for personal use if asked. I said sure and now I am here reporting it. These people got my all of my identity info now and I am freaking out. Apparently I signed a contract. I took pictures of everything and screenshot the conversations.

Did you ever go through with it? Did they deposit money into your account?
