Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief
I was called by a Christopher Pagano to refinance my student loans through Student Loans Education Center. They seemed very knowledgeable about my situation with Navient and guaranteed me lower payments. They even sent over what appeared like legit documents/application from the DOE for me to sign.
I trusted them because he was very patient and understanding of me unlike most scam companies. He also knew a lot of personal information about me, i.e my SSN, fasfa info…etc.
I called Navient that following week because I couldn’t access my account and they informed me that someone changed all of my information. They made up a fake email address, a fake number and address and they also tried to put my loan with Navient in forbearance so that I wouldn’t find out that it wasn’t paid off.
I also contacted the DOE and they stated that they NEVER received an application to refinance through SLEC.
I’ve had to put a freeze on my credit because I hadn’t made a payment yet but it was soon to come out. I trusted this company again because they are very very patient with you while you go over all of your information. They know how bad people want their loan amounts reduced and will say everything right to get you to sign. If it feels too good to be true, it probably is!
These people are in it for the long haul not just a quick hustle. BEWARE!!!!!
