Received a very informal, blasie’ announcement that I had won $250000 with a check from AT&T, drawn on JP Morgan Bank, for $2450.00 to pay for expenses once processing is activated. Instructions to contact the processing agent John Morris and with a phone were included. I did try and call the phone number included but the call could not be completed as dialed.

My elderly mother does respond to many scam letters in the mail. Most of them look as though they are scams, but they are getting better. The Star Financial company sent her an airmail letter, with no "important/ open immediately" sort of stuff on the envelope. Inside was a check for $2,450, and a note saying her "processing fee" would be $1,950. It seems that you would net $500, but….the bank told me that once it’s cashed, they have your account number, and could drain the account.
I called the number on the letter, 1-877-293-1459, and a man, who could barely speak, picked up the phone and would not respond to my questions. It’s a scam, and they are preying on the elderly.
