Type of a scam Tax Collection
I received 2 phone calls Thursday, March 8, 2018 – one at 9:48 AM CST from 202.239.7176 and one at 2:04 PM CST from 343.440.1708.
Both messages were nearly identical, left on my Voicemail. This is the transcription of the AM call:
"_______ Internal Revenue Service and hotline to my division is 302.239.7176 repeat _____ 239.7176. Don’t try to disregard this message and do return the call. If you don’t return the call and if I don’t hear from your attorney either the only thing which I can do is wish you a good luck as the situation badly unfolds on you. Goodbye and take care."
I did not take either call. The number left is a 302 area code but the call came from a 202 area code. The last 7 numbers were the same – 239.7176.
I called my attorney and he suggested I call the ScamPulse.com, who referred me to to this Scamtracker. He also suggested I call the local I.R.S. office, where a recording told me to go to IRS.gov and leave a message there, which I will do.
