Total money lost $899
Type of a scam Tech Support
SPSSearch.com and NetGuardtoolbar.com tells website owners (in my case GetawaysInFlorida.com) that they have a product that will put their website at the top of search engine results. It’s very tempting to new web businesses seeking greater traffic to their website. Unfortunately, it’s a total scam. In our case we never even got the fake account set up. After about a month my emails were no longer deliverable and their 800 numbers were no longer in service. Searching Google for SPSSearch Scam shows results that this company has been known for this for 10 years or more. Back in the day they would fake traffic to websites but in our case we never got anything. They claim a money-back guarantee because they collect through Paypal but Paypal will not help get your money back. They also have a fake link on their website to the ScamPulse.com that is used to reassure those duped they are dealing with a legitimate business but that link doesn’t go to the ScamPulse.com but to an internal url of their own. This scam cost us $899 which we haven’t been able to get back. We’ve filed a claim with the FTC in hopes that their website will be shut down but even if that happens they will likely just re-brand themselves and be up and running again. So if you are a new website marketer do not fall for this fake search scam.
