I went so far as “booking” a reservation for the “giveaway”. I decided to do some research and I’ll be a No show.
We are a retired couple with time on our hands to attend these types of seminars. I should have known better. my wife was pissed when i told her that she would have to attend. She said out loud that it was a scam and a waste of our time…regardless of how much time we have. Well, after my research I will be going to her, hat in hand, and say we’ll be going to Denny’s for a late breakfast. Now, THAT”S a real deal for us seniors!

I also have received a postcard with an invite to “VIP Travel Showcase”. It has a picture on the front of a passenger plane with no color or logo visible. It says “Southwest Getaways Anniversary” on the front. It offers 2 round trip airline vouchers to most major US airports. No purchase is required. Early callers also receive a 7″ Android tablet with “$100.00 dining dollars” (a grammatically repetitive statement).

I checked did a google search for “Southwest Getaways” and could find nothing except scam alerts. I called the provided number, 1-800-960-4583, and gave the operator my promo code, VI17. When I explained that I could not find the name of the company on the internet, she responded that other people have had no trouble I must have made a mistake. She said that it is a new company and maybe I didn’t look in the right places. I asked her if it is new company why are they celebrating their “Silver Anniversary” as stated on the reverse side of the envelope. She then verbally stumbled around trying to explain that they are trying to expand their area of service which of course did not answer the question. I hung-up at that point.

Yes, received a post card similar to above: two round trip coach class tickets to most major airports in US. Android tablet with high definition full 7″ touch screen and $100.00 dining dollars. Plus an ANNIVERSARY BONUS: You will be receiving $500.00 in real travel dollars to almost all hotels or a $100.00 VISA gift card. I called Southwest Airline Customer Service and non SIlver Anniversay. My guess is this is a time share event, but I did not call the 1-800-960-4583 number. PROMO CODE: MO27. Be careful, yes it could be legit. BUT too good to be true for just listening to sales pitch in my opinion!

Received a postcard with an invite to VIP Travel Showcase. Promo code of PC14 listed above phone number. Indicated would receive 2 round trip coach class airline vouchers, no purchase necessary. Also early callers would receive an Android tablet with 7" screen and $100 dining dollars. Plus would receive $500 in real travel dollars to almost all hotels or a $100 Visa gift card. No email, no website, no address on postcard.

I found information on the internet and ScamPulse.com website about this scam ongoing since 2011 in similar postcards. I did not call the number.

I received the attached “Invitation” to attend a travel expo. No return address on post card. When I called I was asked all of my pertinent info and confirmed a seat on Thursday at 6 for this expo. When I asked if they were local the phone rep handed me off to “Dean”, who proceeded to tell me the company was web based, home office in New York and that he had been with the company for 10 years or so. He was flippant and very vague. When I checked the ScamPulse.com data base I didn’t find them.

We received a postcard showing an airplane flying over a beach with the words "Southwest Getaways Anniversary" on the front of the card. Inside was a message inviting us to Southwest Getaways VIP Travel Expo, promising two round trip, coach class airline vouchers to most major airports in the continental United States. The earliest callers will also receive a 3-day, 2 night stay at major 3 and 4 star hotels, such as Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott. No purchase is required. When we called their 800 number, a man named Dean explained that it was a giveaway to promote a new travel agency. We researched this scam on the web and learned that it would be best to avoid attending this "fun-filled" event.
