Type of a scam Identity Theft
I received a call from 201-379-4842 purporting to be the Social Security Admin. They alarmed me by telling me my SS benefits were being suspended because I had filed for them fraudulently. They asked me for my social security #, DOB, name so they could find my file. Like an [censored] being played just as they wanted I gave it to them. I suddenly realized, too late, this was a scam & told them so. They hung up. I called back & recorded the conversation ( I told them they were being recorded) and they still tried to lead me to believe they were just trying to help me. They now told me within the hour all of my assets, bank accounts, etc woulld be seized. I told them I had reported them to the SS Admin and ScamPulse.com & they hung up on me. They said they were in Texas and that’s where the fraud had taken place (first they said I was the fraud) and the info hadn’t gotten to my local office yet. I reminded them that SS is federal & they had a Jersey phone no. They hung up on me.
