Type of a scam Home Improvement

We reached out to this company for roofing services in Brooklyn. Someone named "Ryan" gave us a quote on the work without visiting the premises for an inspection. He then sent through a contract and continued to hassle for a deposit, reaching out via email, text messages and phone calls. A few days later, someone claiming to be his boss "Bob" meets us at the property and hands us the same contract again, asking for a credit card payment to order the supplies. His van was clean with no company logo or credentials. We called Bob to get a peace of mind and he couldn’t explain why the license number on his website didn’t match his name, couldn’t send me any info on reviews or testimonials and started to get defensive and argumentative over the phone.

This company is not real: we checked the license number on their website (NYC License number: ***) leads to a different name & address than what they owner has provided- everyone that "works" under Skyward Roofing has a different email addresses, several different numbers and will refuse to disclose their full name. They hassled us for a $5000 deposit to "Skyward Roofing", $8300 when the work is complete. We would have been scammed if we didn’t double check their legitimacy. Attached is an estimate contract sheet they sent over. I’m sure they’ve used this tactic to scam others as well- we wanted to report to prevent other people from losing their hard earned money.
