Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received a package in the mail addressed to my 15 year old daughter. I opened the USPC mail package an in the inside is a photo copy of a letter with instructions to follow as soon as the check is deposited. The check in the package comes from South Metro Federal Credit Union and says it is a cashiers check in the amount of $2,950.52.
The instructions on the letter include depositing the check in to her account and then make multiple purchases with the money sent to her and fill out a detail form in return.
