Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
On the morning of Thursday, July 12, 2018, i received a call from a Robert Hill that I had won a prize in the Set For Life promotion of Publishers’ Clearing House. My prize was 2.5 million dollars plus $7,000 per week for life. He gave me an identification number for himself, a sweepstakes number for me, a confirmation number for me, and a check number for the Bank of America. It sounded quite official until he said that 99% of the taxes would be paid by PCH, but I needed to wire $299.00 to verify my address that the money could be sent. I stayed on the line with him at least half an hour because I had entered this year’s sweepstakes for the first time.
The original call from (876) 496-2567. When I finally said, "Robert Hill, give my prize money to charity.", I ended the call. Five minutes later a call came for JM Mandville at (876) 7836-0379 trying to reengage the conversation. This time my husband answered the phone and ended the conversation within 15 seconds. Both times the man’s voice had a strong accent from an Eastern country. I hope this information may halp keep damage minimal from this scammer.
