Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Received a LinkedIn message from a "friend" (her account was hacked), referring me to a job as a secret shopper. A few weeks later I received a cashiers check for $2985 with instructions: Go to a local Apple Store and evaluate their store and customer service, spending 2k and 650 on gift cards and I get to keep $300 for the evaluation. They informed me to send a text to 718-675-5284 when I received the check in the mail. I got the check and texted my friend to thank her for the referral, she told me her LinkedIn account had been hacked and she doesn’t work for them. I looked the business up on ScamPulse.com and found it was a scam. I’m reporting here and I also reported that message thread to LinkedIn security. Shame shame shame on theses people!
