Type of a scam Debt Collections
A law firm called me and said their clients had sent my company to collections and started court proceedings for non-payment of a search service I had signed up for. I didn’t recognize the name of the company and it wasn’t in my vendor registry. But they were so threatening about taking me to court that they convinced me to write a check and mail it to a different billing address than the company who contacted the law firm.
Now, almost two months later, I am getting the same type of phone call from from a company with a different name. Again, I do not have that vendor in my registry for accounts payable. They want me to settle with a check for a search engine and they say I owe them $1,800. They claim they have sent me numerous billings that I had not responded to. I hung up on them.
