Type of a scam Employment
I applied for a job on Indeed.com through a company I am very aware of –Sapeint. The job was for a remote graphic designer. Since it was listed through Indeed and I recognized the name of the company I wasnt so leary, but I thought wrong.
I was sent an email saying I would had passed the initial selection process and would be interviewed through google hangout–which is not uncommon these days. However, there are several emails involved in this job and none of these were using the actual server of the company, so I began to later have doubts. These are the emails that were used in the communications I received. Note these are names of actual execs who work at the company. Darren Daz McColl [[email protected]], the other emails used were:
[email protected] and Sapient Razorfish [[email protected]]. These are actual employees of internationally renowned creative agency Sapient, now Sapient Razorfish.
The last email Sharon Kamra is actually an HR officer so I went ahead with the interview. It lasted for two hours of questioning. Then I got an offer letter that I had serious doubts about. I was thinking I would talk on the phone with someone before accepting any offer and therefore called the actual conpany to verify the validity of the letter. They apologized and confirmed it was a SCAM and their legal department was already starting to work on it. The offer letter did not have their logo and the names and titles did not match up to the employees being represented. I knew then it was likely not a real job offer and was sorely disappointed after spending time answering detailed design questions. I did not give any other information, however, other than my name, email and phone contact.
I reported this to indeed and also now to BBB. I am next going to take the advice of the Sapient team and file a local police report. This is a very well-crafted SCAM and I hope no one else goes further along than I did. Like it is said, "If it sounds/seems too good to be true, it probably is!"
