Charlie R*** and Jeremi R*** (who lives at *** * Clover DR, Bridge City, TX 77611, ###-###-####), came to my sister’s address, 3145 Woodlawn Drive in Groves, Texas, in February 2016 asking to do some yard work and tree trimming.
I have been power of attorney and handled most of my aging sister’s financial affairs since 2002. We had difficulty in finding reliable people to cut her grass. These people said they needed money "for their kinfolk" and if I would let them do the tree trimming today, they would only charge is $3,000 instead of $5,000 to trim all the shrubbery and crate myrtle trees and large oak tree in the front.
They did all of the trimming because my daughter, Eleanor, was there to oversee the work. They tried to tell her that they would come back and finish the trimming tomorrow but she asked them to finish that evening.
Then they promised they would return the next day to mulch all of the branches and remove them. They did not return. My daughter and her friend went to both of their houses and called them and asked them to come back and finish the work.
We ended up having to call the City of Groves waste disposal system to remove the branches, and that office informed me that these landscapers and others had been targeting older people living in that neighborhood over a period of months.
