Type of a scam Phishing
(First I received an email from "Richard Nash" on Friday Feb 22 at 11:58 a.m. asking me if I had a free moment, and telling me to text him back. Since I have a friend called Richard Nash ( later when I compared emails, I realized that my friend’s email was different from [email protected]) I responded that we could talk in the afternoon and emailed him my phone number. At 6:01 p.m. I received the following text message:
– Hello Carolina, this is Richard Nash, Are you free at the moment?
Me: Sure
– Carolina! I am tied up at the moment. Can’t make calls/ I want you to purchase iTunes gift cards 5pices – $100each. When you get the cards scratch the silver panel and send it to me on here. I will reimburse you when I get free later in the evening. Thanks.
ME: I don’t understand Richard. I don’t have $500 dollars. What do you need that for?
– How many can you purchase for me? I need to get them to my nephew as a birthday gift but I am currently tied up at the moment
-Let me know how many cards you can purchase
Me: I have many expenses now
– ok.
-Where are you going?
(I did not respond anymore)
