Type of a scam Rental

Posting on craigslist led to email exchange, rental application and them asking for one month rent (1600$) and security deposit (1000$) to be transferred via zelle. Their website is now down, their phone is not answered, and other people have started posting similar experience on other websites. His linkedin is still there… The bank says that money transferred via zelle on purpose is an authorized transaction and as such can only be disputed if the recipient agrees with the dispute.

Thanks to friends that are helping us in this situation! And do not trust rentandlive.org or transfer money to [email protected]

Type of a scam Rental

Rental property posted on Monterey Craigslist. Contacted them by email then asked us to apply and submit documents on their wedsite "rentandlive.org". Two days later application was approved, lease agreement was sent for our signature, and deposit was required to secure the place. They live in other town, they will meet & show us the house once current tenants move out. If we do not like the place, deposit will be refund without question asked. Wired the fund, ready for the move. Drove by the property, but owenr showed up stated that she never signed any lease agreements to anyone. First time in our life tried to rent a place and got scammed. Hard lesson to learn!!!
