Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
The company I work for, Inland Envelope Company, received a $400 invoice in the mail that the CFO said was a scam. It is from a company we have never done business with, Red Mountain Security & Fire Prevention. He asked me to report it to BBB.

Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
A fake invoice was sent to Oltmans Construction Co. us by mail. I have called the phone on the invoice and an answering machine ALWAYS answers and I never get a return call. The address is a UPS PO box # 181. There is no such company as RMS (Red Mountain Security & Fire Protection) that I can find. Please catch them as they seem to be scamming businesses out of thousands of dollars (see attached).

Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
"Red Mountain Security & Fire Protection" apparently mails out invoices seeking payment for "Annual State Required Fire Safety Equipment Inspection, Test and Certification" to large companies or companies that have multiple locations such as retail stores, etc. OR they show up at retail, warehouse, etc. locations and announce they are there to perform related services. Many employees at these field or non-corporate types of locations are naive and let unscrupulous service companies in to complete their hoax to legitimize an invoice. ALWAYS question, ALWAYS confirm.
We called this "company" several times over a one-week period and only get a suspicious voicemail greeting and no return call.
I believe the sham is that they hope accounts payable departments will assume it’s legitimate and mail out a check without scrutiny. However, if businesses are responsible and review, require backup service receipts, have approved vendor lists, etc., like we do, it’s unlikely they’ll be successful.
