Type of a scam Rental
A "Rebecca Anthony" and "Mathew Dainen" are listing a beautiful, brand new, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Hoboken, NJ condo for rent on Craigslist claiming they are the owners and trying to rent it out. It does not belong to them, in fact it is a property listed with local Hoboken real estate group Prime Real Estate. The fraudsters are claiming to be renting out 814 Washington Street Apt 4 for only $877/month and are asking potential renters to Money Gram them $300 to what is probably a fake address in Nevada (where they claim to be on a mission trip as "people of God") in exchange for the keys to the place. When my payment was flagged by Money Gram (I called them before submitting to check it out), the fraudsters suggested I send them a $300 Walmart gift card instead…. If you search the address and apartment number, it will come up as a listing on Zillow and other real estate sites for MUCH more money. Money Gram has issued me a refund and is investigating further themselves. I have also contacted the real estate group and I believe they were investigating/reporting it as well.
