Type of a scam Debt Collections
This happened to my boyfriend yesterday. But for the past couple weeks he was getting this call saying he had 2 debts in this office they gave him a file number and everything over the phone so he thought it was real. They were threatening to take him to court and that they wanted his employer info to garnish his wages. He didnt want it to get that far so he called them back and spoke to a woman named amanda stone. I was with him yesterday evening when he called to make the payment arrangements with them and i left a message and then this other number called back to set it up. We did give them a preapid card for this so we probably are out of that money. They did send him a reciept for payment to his email. But for some reason afterwards i felt very uneasy about it and felt like we got scammed. So i withdrew the rest of the money off the card and will be canceling it today. I tried calling this place back today and all i got is a recording like he got at 6:30 last night and on the recording it doeant give the name of their business. Im not sure if thats a legal thing or not. Should they be leaving their company name on their voicemail? Im reporting this because im really not sure but i do think its a scam.
