Type of a scam Tech Support
on 11/30/12 when I logged into my home computer, the computer was taken over. There was an ear piercing beeping and the warning was stated over and over again that I contracted a virus – to Call Mirco Soft at 1-888-516-7415 it had a Mirco Soft emblem. Which I did call. After providing info and accepting what they said, they initiated placing all types of files on my computer. They stated that I will have 5 years fix it and virus protection. Not realizing that this was a possible scam I gave them info. One of two technicians was well versed and he is the one that took info. The other called back when everything was placed on the computer, he spoke with an accent.By the time I realized it might be a scam I called Credit card company only to find that charges of $799.00 was placed on may card. On Thursday 12/1 I called the above mentioned number, the person on the other line asked for my ID number that they gave me. I just hung up. I then brought my computer into the IT gentleman at my work and he confirmed that it was a scam. The two says later I received a phone call from this outfit with a woman say "Hello, Hello, is there anyone there". I have called all creditors and agencies that were re-laid to me from literature I received regarding this type of incident.
