Type of a scam Government Agency Imposter

When the DMV (California) has a customer prepay for a DMV product, this company’s website instead popped up! On Friday 7/31/20, I was charged a $4.99 fee which is the exact same amount the DMV charges for a drivers license renewal “processing fee”. The DMV alerted me at the counter of this “3rd party vendor” who’s web name is similar to the one the DMV gives out but you have to actually go ONTO the DMV website to make payment, there’s the difference and my oversight. I guess this is a type of bait/phishing…?

My bank doesn’t see the $4.99 charge yet. The bank recommended changing my debit card, of course! I’m waiting to see if this hits by Monday 3/3/20. You know how scammers work. They charge a small amount before trying to take a lot more. Like hundreds of dollars or a thousand, which has happened to me about 15 years ago.

I called the actual company ONE POINT PROCESSING LLC, and got a live person at line 4:30 pm on a Friday! He tried to assure me their business-services are for “address change services in Sacramento” which sounds lame. I’ve changed my address successfully for 39 years when moving! Hello! The rep wanted my full name and phone number to make sure I don’t get charged. I declined. So beware. If I see any unauthorized charged, I’m ready and will call that company back and give them what for! As well as change my bank debit card.

Signed,
