Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

What sounds like an actual person (not a robo call) named Patty, asked me to give her a call back as she was from the processing department letting me now that there has been significant changes to my federal student loan repayment options. She urges me to give her a call back with a reference number, which she immediately lists off to me.

I received calls yesterday afternoon and today in the morning (not sure what number it was from). They were voicemails indicating they were trying to get a hold of Alisha L. MacFinnelly Elise. L MacFinnelly (not me) and they said we have several complaints filed against you. They said you have the right to dispute this by calling 256-346-0698 and this is your case number I think they said 8R72068 and that’s all they said they said please comply, if not we will have to file a complaint in your county against you. The number they told me to call 256-346-0698. I tried to call them to say I am not the person you are looking for, and I couldn’t get through the person said I’m sorry you have the wrong party who you are calling. One voicemail said Information Center and the other one said Processing Department. I can’t see what number they called from matches, because it doesn’t match the number they ask you to call.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

Typically it is always a recording and has lots of pauses in between words, using my wife’s maiden name. Also an "computerized" voice says the name and the case number. It usually says "I recieved an order in my office today for processing several pending matters that you are currently being investigated for, I will be verifying your current address today and your place of employment, it is your responsibility to contact the plantiff prior to being served, their number is #####. Make reference to case # (long pause), failure to comply will forfeit your right to dispute this matter and a complaint will be filed in your nearest county". We get lots of these for whatever reason, and they have the same voice but different words. One message says "this urgent notification is regarding your voluntary settlement to which you validated by agreement, the processing department here received a negative transaction on the card you provided." One person said their name was Kathy Hall on a message from Allocation Adjustment and to call 713-227-1151 ext 3012. When I called that number back, it almost rang once and the person answered "Thanks for holding, how can I help you", to which I replied "Sorry I wasn’t holding, I just called", "Oh ok, how can I help you, what’s the phone number we contacted you at?" This person that answered said her name was Linda Cruz (who I have talked to on numerous occasions but different voices). Linda said that they send validation notices already, and when I ask them to send a letter to their address on file and prove the debt they said they already did. When I called it out saying we won’t be doing anything today, they said "have a nice day".

I have talked to these people and I have been called a "paranoid schitzo" when I call their scam I have been hung up on, called an [censored], and even had them reply "you must be crazy". All are followed by a hangup. Every call I have made to them they can’t provide any information or ask to verify information before speaking about the "debt" which is not how any debt collector actually works. They want you to provide all the information to them, vs the consumer verifying the information. This is a big red flag, and you should legally be notified via mail within 5 days of the phone call for a legitimate debt/collection (FTC Law). Someone needs to stop these people, its very annoying and I have now blocked almost 8 phone numbers and still get these fake collector calls. They also provide a different business name or won’t tell you what their business name is. "Allocation Adjustment" or "Processing Department" is not the name of a business. These people pray on the elderly and people with some checkered past, and I hope they get the karma that is coming down on them very soon.

#1 i am on the do not call list and still received a call from this company yesterday. I received a call from this company saying they represent the Mazda dealership that I purchased my 2010 Mazda 3 car from. Stated that my warranty is almost uo and they sent letters to my address (previous home address) and that I need to act now if I want to keep my warranty. I asked them to send info to my new home, and they said they are unable to do that, I need to pay over the phone now. I received a call from 651-333-2074, and was told to call that number in the morning. I asked the company’s name and he wouldn’t tell me, just restated that they work with the dealership I bought my car from. I said this seems like a scam, why aren’t you telling me the company’s name. He then said the Auto Processing Center. I said, what is the name of the company, not the department.he said it sounds odd, but that is the name. I said that you would have received my new address if you were really with my dealership’s warranty, and hung up.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

I have approximately 8 letters from different organizations claiming I have won sweepstakes and lotteries. I’m asked to send in various amounts of money in order to receive the prize. I know it is a scam and just wanted to report it.
