Type of a scam Tech Support

Scammer had a heavy Indian accent, said that my computer was infected, displayed official looking chart detailing the problems, Stated it would cost $695.00 US dollars to repair. the scam was piggybacked on to an upgrade request from Flash Drive which said it was out of date. when I clicked on the flash drive request the MAC Cleanup screen popped up and I could not shut it down. I confronted the PTS agent that the $695 was outrageous and she then lowered the cost to $250 or there abouts…at that point I disconnected the call and called Apple Tech Support. They confirmed this was a scam, went through my computer and deleted all evidence of the PTS transaction, checked my computer for viruses or malware and declared that it was clean and ok to use.
