Type of a scam Employment
About a week ago I was contacted via email by a person named Julie Fonoti ([email protected]) indicating that I was invited to evaluate Walmart and other stores in October. The email indicated that I would be earning $400 for each assignment and my transport reimbursement could be negotiated prior to completing the assignment. There was a link in the email to sign up, but as of yesterday when I checked it, the link no longer works. The email indicated that it was from Premier Secret Shopping, and they had the ScamPulse.com logo on the bottom of the pngage. Because I saw the ScamPulse.com logo, I thought it was legitimate.
Today I received an email correspondence from Felix Johnson ([email protected]) with instructions on my next steps. I also received a package in the mail with a letter and check for $1,995.89. The check had the following address:
Thomas-Grace Construction
5605 Memorial Ave. N
Stillwater, MN 55082
The check was dated 10/19/2015 and is from Central Bank.
The address on the USPS package that I received was the following:
Taylor Perrock
1218 Long St
Ashland, KY 41101-3532
I took this documentation to my local post office and they indicated that they had seen similar items, and that this was indeed fraudulent. I would be happy to mail copies of the check, letter, and postage envelope that I received. The fact that the phone number Felix provided has a Chicago suburb area code, coupled with a mailing address from Kentucky, and a check address from Minnesota seemed quite fishy. Based on the email I received, it told me to wire $800 to two different people. If I would have done this, I would be out $1600.
