Type of a scam Employment
Applied through a seemingly legitimate job posting through a well known company. Offered an online interview through google hangouts and was told I was hired immediately upon completing the interview. Using my address given on my resume (which they got through my job application) they over-nighted me a check for over $6000 for "equipment" that I was meant to buy through their vendors. I didn’t receive the check till a few days later due to being out of town. In the interim I found out it was a scam when I called the legitimate company and they informed me that the position was not real and had received several people’s calls regarding this position. I did not deposit the check. I’m sure if I did it would have bounced.
