Scammer attempted contact via phone from a Craigslist ad I placed to sell my vehicle. When I did not answer, scammer then sent me a text asking me the price of my car.
When I responded with the price, the scammer texted back: "Would you please pull a VIN check from platinumvinnchecker.com and send it to me? You just enter your vin then get a report. Please email that to me a [email protected]"
I responded "I believe you can pull that report yourself".
Scammer stated "After I see a copy of the report from http://platinumvinnchecker.com I can schedule a time to meet and maybe buy if it all works out. Just lmk after you’ve pulled the report and we can make a time to meet up."
I stated "Like I said, I provided the VIN on my ad, so you can pull the report yourself."
Scammer stated "thanks look forward to seeing the report 😉 I’ve had my eye on the [name of vehicle] ready to finally go for it i think!"
I replied "Sorry, but it’s not my responsibility to provide the report to you. You can pay a small fee and pull the report yourself".
Scammer replied "I will check my email later today when i get home! Thank you!".
I replied "Don’t bother".
Then I blocked the number from sending me texts or calling me.
