Type of a scam Employment
Was offered a job for a large hourly wage. They sent what was called a ‘Start Up’ check because, "The company wants you to buy your won materials from our specific ‘vendor’." I only spent half of the first check. Then, they sent me a second one saying that, "The first one didn’t cover the cost completely."
A few red flags that went up:
-They were posing a a Fortune 500 company, yet sending me money to buy things.
-They never told me the name of their ‘vendor’ and said that it was a "start up company" and that they weren’t "sure that their website was up yet."
-The second check that they sent me to supposedly "cover the costs of what the first one didn’t" was a lot bigger than the first one.
-They used a fast courier service for both checks. Both checks came from different places.
-In the package came directions on what to do with the check. There was no letterhead on the paper used.
-They used Google Hangouts as a place to contact me. When I don’t respond to a message or when something goes wrong with any sort of transaction, they freak out while messaging me.
