Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Scammer name: Theo Marcus – name used in the text message he sent me. Kevin John – the name on the "money order".
This is a common "Secret Shopper" scam. I was sent a FedEx overnight package containing a (fake) money order in the amount of $3935. I am awaiting instructions after I deposit the check tomorrow (I’m not depositing anything….REALLY?!?).
My intent is to lead them on, waste their time, and hopefully keep them from scamming another person while dealing with me (an under educated, senior citizen who just doesn’t follow directions well…).
