A man came to my door selling magazines – saying this company helps lifts people like himself out of poverty. His sales will help provide for his family etc. We always try to do good to others. Even though he did not seem convincing to know the products we just made a sale to help him. He brough an out of date brochure of magazines and every purchase helps his sales. Went on and on about how he does this for his family. Me and my husband purchases a magazine just to help him out. Turns out he makes fraudulent checks with the one we gave (3 fraudulent checks) – the company does not pick up the phone. It continiously just goes to voicemail.

A few months ago (April 2019) I was living in California and Mr. Lyndon George, dealer n. 77, showed up at my house on behalf of Optimum Reading Services LLC saying that he was selling subscriptions to magazines to support himself and his 5 year old daughter. He said the organization was helping people like him to get back on their feet again. He gave me a yellow slip with my order on it that said ‘no donations’ and seemed pretty legitimate.
In an attempt to do the right thing and help him out, I bought a subscription to Mad Magazine for kids with a check for 60 dollars.
Needless to say, I never saw a copy, neither my money back. Despite various faxes, I cannot even reach them anymore on the phone.
Obviously a scam. I am just sorry that once again honest people trying to help out someone ‘in need’ are taken for a ride, thus damaging real charities.
