Type of a scam Phishing
There is a phone scam currently in use where the caller asks the person who answers to verify their identity. The scammer says is this (your name) or am I speaking to (your name). It is done at the beginning of the call so the scammer can record your answer :"yes". They then can use your saying yes to record that into a sales pitch done without you being present and can later use your "yes" answer as proof that you agreed to whatever they are trying to scam you out of. This person who called me said am I speaking to (my name) and my answer was: possibly. Then they proceeded to tell me they were taking an anonymous survey. I asked if it was anonymous why would you ask my name and they hung up. Subsequent call back to the caller ID number says: please leave a message after the tone if you don’t wish any further calls. The recording then switched and said the system could not accept any messages (how convenient) and gave an error code. There error was calling me I did some research and found the company online and have a call in to their marketing manager with a message to call me. It should be an interesting call back if he does.
