I received a text message from Jeffrey and another from Andy with a group called Open Progress. They said their goal was to help voters be able to vote without any issues on Dec. 12. They asked if I was registered to vote in Alabama, of which I have not been a resident for years. When I inquired on how they received my number, they stated that they got it from a public voter profile and were reaching out to folks in the same was as phone banking or canvassing. The following day, I received another text message addressed to one of my family members seeking the same information. I went to their website and their is only a place to donate funds, not find out more information. I tried calling their phone number and it said to leave a message and they would reply back through text, not a phone call. After discovering this, I decided to report this as a scam. If you were truly trying to help voters this would be a phone call and not a text message. I found this so shady and disgusting.
