Type of a scam Government Grant
I started receiving calls about two months ago on my cell phone from 562-912-3597. The message said that I had been chosen for a one time government grant for $9,700/ Today, 11-10-17 I called back the number and spoke to Michael and he explained the details of the grant to me and that I would not need to pay the money back. He said that they needed $200. And I asked him why and it was like he was trying to avoid my questions. And he explained the $200 is for an activation fee and that so I would get the $9,700 and not $9,500. He asked how I would like to receive the money through a bank or Money Gram, I chose Money Gram, and he said I would need to go to Money Gram and have the $200 and that within 15 minutes I would receive $9,700. It sounded like he had a Hispanic accent. I told him I didn’t have the $200, and he asked me if he would like me to put it on hold for a few days while I get the money, and he said he would put it on hold for a week. I told him I needed to check this out first being giving any money, he said ok, go ahead. I asked him if I am getting $9,700 why can’t they take the $200 out of the money, and he said we need the money up front.
