Was on the computer working on excel file when a message popped up telling me not to turn off my computer – there is a virus and i need to call the systen administrator at 866-376-9976. I was frightened and called the number and they charged me $300.00 to fix it and told me they were microsoft representatives. When my wife got home from work and I explained what happened, she thought I had been scammed. We called microsoft and was told that they did not represent them and helped to clean off anything that had been installed by them.
