Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

At the start of the scam, sales rep by phone or by fax will request copy of counter check read out from company printer stating to be from the technical department of your current printer lease company. Later Sales rep will call front desk (attempting to speak to a different individual) claiming to be from the company of your copier lease. Will inform that there has been an increase in printing/toner costs, and to keep the rate low we need to resign the contract. From earlier obtained information, will be able to sound legitimate and answer correctly about toner needed and what type of printer is in the office.

Form will arrive by fax, will be blurry and pix-elated. Will continue to call until it is signed and sent back. In our company’s case, the rep called repeatedly and finally and got a confused intern to pressure accounting to sign it. Then they will start to mail you counterfeit printer ink, along with invoices. We have repeatedly told them to stop, but we continue to receive phone calls. Packages will continue to arrive, addressed to whoever they last spoke to on the phone. Even more so, we have tried to refuse the shipments, but the ship from addresses are not distinct/unclear and the boxes do not have an exterior packing slip. So our procurement department has unwillingly signed for several of these unwanted shipments.
