Type of a scam Phishing

The caller said they were from Nationwide Locator Services, looking for someone by my name, in order to serve a notice of "civil complaint" supposedly filed against me. Subsequently provided a different phone number and "case file number" to follow up with the "court system".

A brief search on the internet revealed this as a known scam. You can’t get served over the phone! Must be in person or via certified mail.

Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

Woman called asking to speak with "H" which is my father’s name. We do not live in the same place or share a phone number. When I asked what this was about she replied that someone had filed a complaint against him and that my number is the one on file for legal matters. She asked if I could get a message to him. When I said perhaps she gave me the phone number 888-540-2715 and a reference number to have him call in with. She said once he called they would send him the sealed envelop she had for him on her desk adding that it would be unlawful for her to open it. She also added that he only had 3 days to call before some negative consequence would be incurred. It felt odd and once I hung up the phone I realized it couldn’t be legit, how would they have a daughter’s cell number but not the person’s contact info? Let’s be honest, it’s not hard to find elderly people, their still have their land lines published in phone books. Definitely felt like a scam although I’m not sure for what.
