Ironically this "charity" robo called me trying to get me to donate money after the Dallas Police Officer death last night. Very sad. https://www.bbb.org/phoenix/business-reviews/police-and-fire-organizations/natio…

There is an organization called the "National Police and Troopers Association – NPTA" calling for donations just like the PAFOP does. When I spoke to them last year, I told them to send information in the mail as I don’t give donations and credit cards over the phone. I remember thinking it was eerie because it sounds so much like the PAFOP. So they sent paperwork. Upon doing research, it isn’t a tax deductible charity and there is a ton of stuff on a variety of sites that state they are less than reputable. Too much to bother trying to sort out how legit they are – especially for charity donations.

So I pitched the paperwork.

Now, I have been receiving calls from a local city (obviously using a phone relay) for over a week. Today I answered and wait for the phone routing service to send it through.

Here is the ensuing conversation.

Him: ‘Hey Tracy?’

Me: ‘Hello?’

Him: ‘Tracy? Is this Tracy?’

Me: ‘Yes?’

Him: ‘You keeping everybody out of trouble over there?’ heh heh

Me: long pause. ‘I’m sorry, do I know you?’ (Does this guy know me? I’m processing it because he sounds local and I have done work with law enforcement so I’m trying to place it.)

Him: ‘This is XXX from NPTA. I’m calling about your pledge from last year.’ heh heh

Me: As I pull up notes – ‘Yes, as I’m looking at my notes, it appears that there is a problem. It seems as if you are part of a questionable organization based on my research.’

Him: ‘And what research would the be?’

Me: ‘I’m pretty sure you know what I’m talking about. One must simply google your organization and there are tons of reports.’

Him: ‘Oh Google? Google? I’m sorry, I get my information from reputable sources.’ *proceeds to hang up on me

I’m pretty sure a reputable organization would be able to refute any falsehoods that may exist and certainly, when raising funds, would not hang up on the person.
