Type of a scam Government Grant

Entered by ScamPulse.com Staff – LJ 3-12-20

I received two calls on my cell phone offering a Government Grant of $14,750. The caller stated they were with NIH. National Institute of Help. they are a Government agency offering grants to help people with hardships. They gave me a grant number AB1257. The first caller said his name was Kevin Foster. The second caller Patrica Harris. The call sounded like it was oversea. I could hear dogs barking in the background. I would not hear that if they were a real Government agency. The phone number in my caller ID was 202-600-8914. the caller asked wo I banked with to deposit the money. They wanted my credit card number. I said I do not feel comfortable. The caller stated they are in good with the Better Business Bureau. I feel like I am doing the right thing reporting this. It could happen to anyone. I did not give any personal information.

I received a call from a one eight hundred # the man on the other end had broken English. The call went on as he stated that I have been chosen by the government to receive a grant in the amount of $14,750.00 so he asked if I wished to receive the money and I accepted he then gave me a ( Money Approval ID #) and he proceeded to give me a phone # to call. About an hour later, I answered the phone and the man said he received my message and he was returning my call. He then went on to tell me I could receive the payment in 3 different ways on a reloadable card, western union or through my bank account. I later hung up.
