Type of a scam Debt Collections
The person called saying I had an old debt that needed to be paid. They posed as a collection company on behalf of the company I received a loan from. This fraudulent company had my phone number, full name, email address, home address, bank name, last few digits of bank account number, and my full social security number. The information they gave me was so believable that I gave them my bank card number to clear up the debt. I never received the paid in full letter or other documentation that I was supposed to receive. When I tried to call the number back, some rang to a voicemail with different company names, and some numbers rang to a person who sounded like they were at home taking the call. They gave me the run around about not receiving the paperwork. On my bank statement it showed the name of National Billing and when I Googled National Billings website the first thing that comes up is a disclaimer that other fraudulent people are using this company’s name for scams.
