Type of a scam Online Purchase
I was contacted by a potential buyer for a motorcycle I am selling. The email came via a craigslist link. He claimed he wanted me to provide a VIN check on my cycle for him at a specific site. (motorvincheck.com), because he did not want to make a long drive to see the motorcycle if there was a problem with it.
I initially agreed to do this since it was only $20. However when I went to the site and started to add my info, it said it would take paypal, but it then gave me no option to use paypal. It then requested my credit card info, but I could see via the browser it was not a secure site. (even though it had a flashing screen saying it had ssl security, or whatever) I stopped and logged out immediately. Please make others aware of this scam to get your credit card info online. I live in Rogers Arkansas
