Type of a scam Tech Support
Box popped up on the computer, freezing the computer. It had the label "Microsoft" on it was also beeping in a very annoying manner. Had the phone #1-855-580-0831 for Microsoft technical help. I called, the person answering said it was MICROSOFT CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS. After telling me I needed to take the computer to a local tech and what to tell the tech that needed to be done (about 5 things), said she could do it remotely. I gave her remote access but as she talked it became more suspicious so I just unplugged the computer. Later I got a call from that same # asking me to reconnect the computer. The request was on voice mail and I did not respond.
Two days later I got another call from the same # and talked to the person. They told me they were located in BOYTON BEACH, FL. After questioning the person, I was given the following information. The SAFE PC SOLUTIONS (a different name than the original name of I was given-MICROSOFT CERTIFIED TECNICIANS). A I talked I was also given the name of the parent company as ADVANCED PC SOLUTIONS located in New Jersey. And also given the name OTC (OUTSOURCE TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS).
It was apparent that the person was a scammer so I refused any further help from them. I was not harmed by this scam but perhaps the phone # and these names will be of help in your catching up to these scammers so others won’t get hurt.
