My neighborhood was papered with some flyers offering an annual yard maintenance program. It was something I had been planning on trying to find and contract, so it was very timely. The service was year-round, mowing, edging, snow removal, sprinkler services, weed and fertilizing, etc. It was very discounted, with the intent to be if you like their service, you will more than likely use them for larger projects which they also do (decks, patios, fencing, landscaping, etc.) I got in touch with them via email, went back and forth a bit and finally locked into a day that they could come out to my house to talk about my needs, as well as to pick up the prepayment and get the contract signed. It was required that you prepay the services ($495) – and then they offered an additional 20% off for cash. Which saved $100. Of course I’ll take that discount! The young man who came was very professional, dressed well, nice car (thought it was odd he wasn’t driving a truck) and spoke eloquently about their services. He was definitely schooled in the business. There were several early snow falls after that, and they sent someone out to clear my drive and sidewalks. In retrospect, I believe they only did this in order to make them look legitimate to me so that I would help sell my neighbors. Which I did.

I’ve read several reviews on sites over the past couple of weeks from others, so it’s not an isolated incident.

I’ve tried many times to get in touch with them via phone and email and they do not return calls or emails any longer. It appears that their website was only recently built and purchased, and that they only have it set up for a year, sometime into around September 2017.

From what I understand since I posted this info publicly on Facebook, there were snow removal businesses who were scammed as well. They were targeted to come do the work at the homes that were contracted and then never paid by Michaelson for their services.

My neighbor, *** *** was also a victim of this scam.

Received a flyer on my door for a "Fall Special" of landscape services including snow removal, sprinkler blowout, mowing, trimming, weeding, etc. for the entire year at a discounted price. Salesman came to my house to give me a quote and we signed a contract and I received a receipt for my cash payment, which was 20% off the quoted price for paying cash. I was promised a 180-day money back guarantee if I was not satisfied. After the first snowfall, someone came to remove the snow but they were a subcontractor for Michaelson Land Management. Each time someone came it was a subcontractor. This was understandable in case they were understaffed. Later, I received phone calls from potential customers asking me for a recommendation about the company. I explained that I had only had my snow removed a couple of times so far, so it seemed legitimate but I was curious why my number was being given out for recommendations when I myself was a new customer, especially since their website claimed they had been around for over 20 years. I tried calling the salesman on many occasions to ask why my number was being given out, and also to complain when my driveway was not shoveled within the 24 hour window they promised. My calls and emails were never returned. Eventually I wanted to get my refund and cancel my service but I could not get a hold of anyone still. I later had a visit from one of the people who shoveled for me, saying that they had never been paid by Michaelson Land Management for the work they did. I visited the address listed on the website and invoice, and there is no such knowledge of Michaelson Land Management at that location.
