Type of a scam Home Improvement
Postured himself as a man who just bought a home in my zip code where my painting business operates. He needed the place repainted as soon as possible and was moving from Colorado with his family in the next few weeks, and described all the square footage and rooms to be painted. He was willing to pay any difference from a sight unseen estimate to get the project going and pay 50% up front with balance at end of project. He did not use the familiar "do you take credit cards pitch". He would pay by check and was willing to let check clear. The last correspondence after I went through the work of sending him a professional rough bid as asked revealed "The Scam". He had a paint supply company that would deliver the paint if I would just pay the paint supplier and shipping from a larger check that he would send me with my agreed 50% fee. To make sure I was not working with an Eccentric Rich man? Called the Realtor googled for that address who was a friend. Home was still for sale. NO BUYERS
