Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

I received a letter in postal mail at my home in July 2018. It was sent from Canada. The return address on the envelope did not match the business address on the letter inside. At the top of the letter was the name of the business, its location, its phone number, its fax number, and an e-mail address. Below this information on the left-hand side it said: "REF NO: MN/ADWWD-2018/-JYI-5041 // Official Estate Settlement Letter // Date July 05 2018" To make it look more important, there was a heading before the letter’s greeting: "PRIVATE AND PERSONAL LETTER."

In the letter, Mr. Medrick Newman claimed that he was a lawyer and was writing to me on behalf of his deceased client John [my surname here]. His life insurance policy did not list a beneficiary, so Mr. Newman is trying to find a relative to claim the payment from the life insurance policy before it returns "to the Treasury Division as unclaimed funds." Mr. Newman explained that I must act quickly in order to take advantage of this opportunity.

There were several misspellings and incorrect punctuation marks in the letter. It also sounded too good to be true. Therefore, I am submitting it as a scam.
