Type of a scam Debt Collections
I was called by this guy claiming to collect a old pay day loan. I started to ask questions and the more i asked the more his story changed. He claimed to be a paralegal with the Mason Douglas Company in Cleveland Ohio, I tried to look the company and even a lawyer in Cleveland with that name and i didn’t find anything. He claimed the loan was from 2015 when i know i didn’t take out a loan then and some how he had my employer , my home city, birthday , and Social Security number too. After questioning him he told me to look up his website, and I didn’t find anything then he tells it was down and that he will call me back once it was back up. I continued to ask for prof of said loan but he would give me any documentation he wanted $75 to hold the account and payment plan to pay a $300. Then he told me that if i don’t pay that it will cost me $2500 in court I still didn’t believe him. After multiple times of asking for him to email me prof of said loan he told me if i don’t pay today it will cost me $10,000 . I’m sorry a fake $300 payday loan cost $10,000 I don’t think so.
