My son was using his new computer he got for Christmas and this scam popped up on his screen telling him to call a number on the screen or his computer would crash. Naively, he called the number and gave them our credit card information. They charged him $99.99. He panicked and called the bank and told them to stop payment, which can’t be done with a credit card transaction. The bank disputed the charge, but the scammers wouldn’t remove the charge. I have been on the phone with them this afternoon. They are saying they will not pay us back unless we remove the undisputed charge. I tried to do this through the bank, but the bank basically said they are giving me the run around in hopes that I’ll drop it. This business isn’t in the ScamPulse.com database.
