Malley’s Chocolate

Tara – Nov 27, 2020

I too received a text – they EMBED a .jpg into the text so they don’t even have to type. Scammers claim to offer $400 to drive around with a decal on the car. However, the chocolate company is in Ohio. And I live in Los Angeles. And NO ONE is paying anyone $400 a week to drive around with a decal. Be warned, this is a lame scam since they are targeting people way outside of the Ohio area. Even within Ohio I am hoping folks won’t fall for it. GOOD LUCK and I feel badly for Malley’s!

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I am not a victim of this scam. I wanted to report it because right now a lot of people are struggling to pay their bills. This is more than likely a Fake Check Scam, but I never contacted the scammer back because I recognized it as a scam when I looked at the text message. This scam was most recently used in December of 2019 to target college students who were looking for ways to earn a little extra money. I searched for the scammers email to see if this person was an employee and I found nothing linking this person’s email to Malley’s Chocolate. The scammer said that Malley’s Chocolate is paying individuals $400 a week to put a non-damaging "decal vinyl" on their cars. The payment method would be by check.

Type of a scam Employment

This person claimed to be affiliated with Malley’s Chocolate. They were setting people up with a car ad wrap that paid 400 dollars a week. They sent me a check for 2,499.75 dollars. 400 was meant to be the initial payment with the other 2 thousand to send to the decal company to apply the decal to my car. The check initially went through but several days later it bounced.
