Type of a scam Rental
My daughter has completed her second year of college and looking to sublet her apartment for the summer, she received a super detailed email from a very eager potential renter. She wanted my daughter to complete their transaction super quick and the potential renter did not want to follow protocol. She was supposed to go through the rental company to complete an application and she just wanted to send her money to my daughter and skip that part. Suddenly the potential renters financier sent out the check and it was for much more than the requested amount. It was written for $5500 not $1350. She wanted my daughter to deposit the check and send the overage to some director of research where she was going to attend a seminar. And of course it was all supposed to happen quickly because of the seminar deadline. We have not cashed the check and we did not send any money out either.
