Type of a scam Phishing
I received a voice mail on 3/16/2016. The caller identified himself as a Lt. Scott Goodman, Ada County Sheriff’s Dept., Civil/Criminal Warrants Division. The caller identified me by name and directed me to call him back as there was a warrant out for me. The phone number he provided turned out to be a cell phone (208-999-2512). I did return the call and asked to speak to Lt. Goodman. The call sounded like an empty room as it echoed. I asked to speak to this Lt. Goodman. The person on the other end hesitated. I told that person that I was hanging up and would be calling the Ada County Sheriff’s Dept. I immediately called the Ada County Sheriff’s Dept. and talked so someone in their Warrants Dept. The person there told me that there was no Lt. Goodman. She asked me what number had called me. When I gave her the 208-999-2512 number, she informed that they had received several inquiries / complaints about this number. She informed me that it was a scam. Thought I should send this on to you so you can put out the word locally here in Ada County.
