I bought three hours worth of moving services online (through Groupon). The company called 15 minutes before our scheduled move and said I needed a $400 cash deposit "in case they go over hours" before we began. Tired and stressed from the move, I didn’t think anything of it and gave them the money after the assured me that they would give it back after the move. They left halfway through the move, didn’t complete the move or three hours I already paid for, and took the $400. They later sent a text with an itemized receipt of nonsense fees and said that I actually owed them money. I asked to see any paperwork/breakdown that would justify them taking the $400 on top of what I already paid and the operator who calls from an untraceable number is unable to give me the receipt. Upon further investigation, I see now that the website www.localmovingcorp.com is a scam website and is hosted by a third party to protect the scammers identities. The phone number they call me on are also untraceable.
